. Minibus Driver Training & Assessment KCVYS aspires to provide the best
possible training and assessment at an affordable price and at appropriate
times, by negotiation. Key Aims 1)
To improve passenger safety and comfort 2)
To raise awareness of: a. Traffic Law b. Legal responsibilities c. Duty of care d. Defensive driving 3)
To keep updated by regular assessor re-training 4)
To receive and evaluate minibus information from KCVYS provides either directly
or indirectly advice and information on the operation of minibuses. Question
Can
adults with only categories B/B1 drive minibuses? Answer – NO – if: They have been driving for less than two years and not
over 21. The vehicle is over 3.5 metric tonnes. Would be paid whilst driving. Yes – If: Over 21 and been driving for more than 2 years Only drive as a volunteer Only able to take out of pocket expenses Not to tow trailers Gross Vehicle weight not to exceed 3.5 metric tonnes Vehicle operated under a Section 19 small bus permit To this end KCVYS 1) Operates under the Community Transport
Association’s MiDAS scheme 2) Uses only one highly trained and nationally recognised
assessor/trainer. 3)
Maintains centrally all driver’s course records 4) Provides
an ongoing programme of full and re-assessment courses for drivers of: a.
Standard Minibuses b.
